The Client

Clean TeQ Sunrise Pty Ltd is the owner/operator of the Clean TeQ Sunrise mineral deposit situated in the Fifield district in central New South Wales, approximately 350km WNW of Sydney. Clean TeQ is developing its world-class Sunrise Nickel Cobalt Scandium Project, utilizing its Clean-iX® technology. The Clean TeQ Sunrise Project deposit is one of the largest and highest grade undeveloped nickel and cobalt resources outside Africa and contains the world's largest and highest-grade scandium resource.

The Challenge and Objective

Clean TeQ’s incumbent ICT managed service provider, whilst suitable for the exploration and DFS stages, was not able to scale service scope or provided geographical coverage across the future planned Clean TeQ sites and operations.

The Solution

In 2018 Forward Logic's consulting team was engaged to run a structured, end to end procurement process with a goal of assisting Clean TeQ to select a ICT Managed services partner with aligned skillsets, capacity, structured services, national footprint and cultural alignment.

Forward Logic's role was to gather requirements through interviews with key stakeholders and analysis of Clean TeQ ICT systems, mine site infrastructure, service lines and business objectives.

The Forward Logic team worked collaboratively with the ICT management and Capital Project technical teams to:
  • Define and document required services into a comprehensive Service Catalogue
  • Design a flexible SLA model to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and ongoing improvement of services
  • Develop a technology scope for the corporate and mine site ICT system and Infrastructure
  • Structure the request for proposal and scoring model
  • Assess the market for appropriate vendors
  • Prepare the tender documentation for the procurement teams
  • Assess tender responses
  • Advise on contractual negotiations

The Result

The collaboration between Clean TeQ and Forward Logic ensured that the selected vendor for Managed Services and technology implementation aligned with, and supported the  strategic objectives of, targeted service quality and technical capability to deliver the ICT infrastructure for this critical project.

With Forward Logic consultants on board, Clean TeQ was able to successfully complete the procurement, negotiate the new service contract and transition to the new service provider without delays, adhering to project timelines.
