The Client

St Barbara is an Australian based, ASX listed gold producer and explorer with assets that include the Leonora Operations in Western Australia, and the Simberi Operation in Papua New Guinea.

The Challenge and Objective

In 2016, St Brabara wished to enter into a new ICT Managed Services arrangement with the objectives of improving service quality, flexibility and value through more effective contractual levers and governance.

The Solution

Forward Logic's consulting team was engaged to run a structured, end to end procurement process with a goal of assisting St Barbara to select a ICT Managed services partner with aligned skillsets, capacity, structured services and cultural alignment.

Our role was to gather requirements through interviews with key stakeholders and analysis of St Barbara ICT systems, Infrastructure, service lines and business objectives.

The Forward Logic team worked collaboratively with the ICT management and Procurement teams to:


  • Define and document required services into a comprehensive Service Catalogue
  • Design a flexible SLA model to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and ongoing improvement of services
  • Deliver a more flexible service and commercial model to support the ICT transformation strategy
  • Structure the request for proposal and scoring model
  • Assess the market for appropriate vendors
  • Prepare the tender documentation for the procurement teams
  • Assess tender responses
  • Advice on contractual negotiations
